Dr Noel Tichy is a professor of organisational behaviour and human resource management at the University of Michigan Business School and a worldwide consultant specialising in leadership and organisational transformation. Prior to that he headed the General Electric's famed Crotonville Management Development Institute (1985-87), was associate professor at Columbia University (1972-80), and a senior research associate at the Center of Policy Research (1970-80). He is the Director of the University of Michigan's Global Leadership Programme and oversees a 36-company consortium of North American, Japanese, and European companies.

 

Tichy also directs the Global Business Partnership, which links global companies and research centers in North America , Japan, and Europe. Tichy is the co-author of numerous best-selling books including, Judgment: How Winning Leaders Make Great Calls, Control Your Destiny or Someone Else Will, which covers GE's spectacular transformation, Every Business is a Growth Business, shows business leaders how to sustain balanced growth and his newest book Judgment: How Winning Leaders make Great Calls, The Cycle of Leadership and The Leadership Engine: How Winning Companies Build Leaders at Every Level, where he draw upon his 25 years of research and real world application of leadership development at such organisations as GE, Ford, Shell, and Cisco.

 

He was the 1987 recipient of the New Perspectives on Executive Leadership Award by Johnson Smith & Kinsely for the most outstanding contribution to the field as captured in The Transformational Leader with Mary Anne Devanna. He received the 1993 Best Practice Award from the American Society for Training and Development and the 1994 Sales and Marketing Executives international Educator of the Year Award. Dr. Tichy is the founder and editor in chief of the Human Resource Management Journal.

 

Noel's experience in Asia is extensive. He consults widely in both private and public sectors in Thailand, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan and India as well as China. For ten years he ran the Global Leadership Program which brought senior executives from Japan, Europe and the U.S. to China and India for country assessments and business opportunity assessments. He is a senior partner in Action Learning Associates and his clients include Best Buy, GE, PepsiCo, Coca Cola, GM, Nolia, Nomura Securities, 3M Daimler-Benz and Royal Dutch/Shell.
